ECONOMIC GROWTH EFFECTS OF THE INTERACTION OF TRADE OPENNESS AND INSTITUTIONS QUALITY: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE FROM SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA

In its various publications, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has vigorously advocated need for reforming African trade policy from inward oriented strategies to outward ones. While most countries in Africa have long accepted reform agenda, there remains marked differences their expected growth outcomes. This raises some skepticism about value of openness on especially Sub- Saharan (SSA).This paper therefore investigates how impacts SSA. order further enrich debate around orientation and corresponding effects growth, we examine interaction effect institutions quality growth. doing so, panel data set were collected a sample 27 SSA covering period 1996-2016.The study employed dynamic estimation technique with view evaluating relative impact predictors The results revealed that alone bring significant negative performance However, simultaneous brings positive confirmed is conditional institutions.
